Additional information

In booking an appointment you agree to these terms and conditions, and you confirm that you are the legal owner / loaner of the animal referred for treatment and that all information provided on the consent form is correct.

Whilst every care is taken of the animal undergoing treatment, all animals receive treatment at their owner’s risk. The therapist is fully insured. If you are aware of a behavioural reason why treatment of your animal poses a risk to our staff, you are required to declare this in advance.

Payment for services is due on the day of the treatment, by cash, cheque or immediate bank transfer. We are able to supply invoices for insurance claims purposes / your records, but payment terms remain the same.  We cannot facilitate direct claims.

If an invoice is not paid within 24 hours of being sent by email, we reserve the right to add a late payment fee of £25 or 25% (whichever is greater) after 14 days.

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations otherwise the session fee may be charged in full.

If your animal has an infectious/contagious condition or fresh open wound you are required to inform us with at least 24 hours’ notice and reschedule your appointment. Your animal must have been free from clinical signs of sickness for 48 hours before commencing a treatment.

Owners are required to notify us if, during a course of treatments, the animal’s condition worsens, or if the veterinary surgeon advises that the treatment is to be stopped or suspended.

We kindly request that you have your animal as clean and dry as possible prior to treatment.

Holly Blackmore Equine Spinal Therapy reserves the right to refuse treatment to any animal.

Holly Blackmore Equine Spinal Therapy reserves the right to use video footage/photographs taken during sessions for marketing purposes.

Animals will usually require a minimum of 24-48 hours off physical activity so please be mindful of this when booking an appointment.

Veterinary consent

It is a legal obligation to gain veterinary consent to treat your animal, inline with The Veterinary Surgeon's act (1966) for any treatments that are not deemed to be for maintenance only.

Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked which veterinary practice your animal is registered with and for your consent for us to contact them to gain their permission to treat your animal. Where your Vet has referred your animal for therapy, this consent will already be in place for your first appointment. If your Vet has not directly referred you for treatment, veterinary permission will need to be gained, unless the treatment is to maintain their current performance and health. If there is concern regarding an injury or condition, consent from your vet is required.

As a therapist, it is essential to know your animal's background. The owner can often explain this however by liaising directly with the animal's own Veterinary Surgeon ensures all information communicated is clear and comprehensive. Vets are able to give this information by looking at the medical records held for your animal.

There are occasions where we will refer clients back to their Vet for further investigations. As a therapist, we are not allowed to diagnose a condition, only Vets can do this. Once a confirmed diagnosis is made, we can then work with your Vet to draw up a rehabilitation plan to get your animal back to good health.

There are also cases where it is necessary to work with other allied professionals such as farrier, saddlers, dentists etc.
